OMANY CAMP behind the Gas Works and the entrance was near bottom of Leeson Hill. A large encampment for the Traveller, Romany, Gypsy Community who provided seasonal workers for the agricultural and other rural industries. Family pets, chickens, jams and other items could be purchased here.  The women would often knock on doors selling wax or paper flowers and pegs among other things. Now this community has settled at the top of Star Lane.
